How Can You Best Utilize a Design Work Session?

Here are some recommendations on how to structure and use our Design Work Session:

  • Receive specific, actionable recommendations from your Intake Questionnaire, aligned with the the goals, objectives, and vision for your interior design or decorating project.

  • Understand how your design choices affect the heath, safety, and well-being of your interior environment.

  • Work through circulation and adjacent spaces for functional and pleasing furniture arrangements.

  • Identify which finishes, fixtures, and equipment are incompatible with your needs.

  • Learn about your colour impact and work on coordinating finishes together for a harmonious result.

  • Identify which designed elements to phase or hold-back on due to project budgeting constraints.

  • Understand which building systems and competing objectives to prioritize and support your goals.

  • Organize cooking and bathing arrangements to make your spaces more efficient, adaptable, and accessible.

These sessions combine guidance and coaching—so you don’t just know what to work on, but how to do it.

Good Stuff to Know:

Topics We Can Cover

Sessions can cover most project types. These include residential interior renovations, kitchen renovations, bath renovations, commercial tenant improvements, and decorating projects. Book a Discovery Call with our team to learn if a Design Work Session is a fit for your project.

Typically we are learning about you and your needs in the first session and, depending on the complexity, topics may be limited by the duration. Subsequent sessions will revolve around your action items and particular needs, typically up to three to four topics.

Complete Our Questionnaire in Advance

Using our Client Intake Questionnaire, you will receive specific, actionable recommendations that are aligned with the the goals, objectives, and vision for your interior design or decorating project. Without saying more, this questionnaire is extremely important for every productive Design Work Session.

No Special Software Needed

All Design Work Sessions are conducted virtually and will require a camera and microphone. You will not need any special software or apps to download.

You can consider using a smartphone or tablet, but it’s preferred that you are stationary for the first 15-minutes as we review objectives. From there, you may need to give us a video tour of the space we are working on, so it’s a good idea to tidy up, turn on all your interior lights, and consider your background noise. A loud and chaotic job site isn’t a great experience on the opposite end of the video.

Join Ahead of Your Session

We recommend joining your Design Work Session a few minutes ahead of time. Before joining, consider your background, noises around you, lighting, and other things that can cause disruptions. When pre-scheduling a Design Work Session you are committing to make the time to use our expertise and services so please do not be late. We want you to get the most out of it.

Taking Notes

Every Design Work Sessions is 100% for you and your needs—so please take your own notes.

While we will be using Gemini (Google’s Artificial Intelligence) to take internal notes during the Design Work Session, these notes are for our internal use and purposes only. They cannot (and will not) be shared with anyone outside of Articulated Design Studio.

Ongoing Support or Just One Time

There is no obligation to book more than one session, but Corey typically recommends at least 3 sessions to get the most from your coaching—think of approaching the design work like the beginning, middle, and end.

Corey will spend the first session getting to know you and your needs, and most recommendations will be made in subsequent sessions.
